Database Developer

Rainmaker Business Technologies is an exciting Irish IT company which enjoys a growing reputation for outstanding technological capability within the airline community. Exclusively export orientated. Rainmaker has successfully entered into long term contracts with leading airlines in Europe and the US to design, build, deliver and support applications that give airline managers access to critical hidden data across multiple data sources within their current environment. To underpin its international sales, Rainmaker has a re-seller agreement with the US global company, Sabre Airline Solutions to promote the Rainmaker suite of products to its expansive airline customer base worldwide.

We are currently seeking to recruit a skilled Database Developer with strong SQL, ETL and design and implementation skills for a position based at our offices in Sandymount Dublin.

Working with our software developers you will take collective responsibility for the development, support and administration of the database components of our product.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and implementation of robust, scalable and efficient database systems
Query optimisation and performance tuning of existing applications
Assisting developers in designing complex queries
Designing and maintaining ETL processes for database and data warehouse processing
Develop key aspects of the information architecture, including logical/physical data models, data flow diagrams and metadata strategy.
Specifying and assessing database hardware requirements.

Our platform operates primarily on SQL Server 2005 and 2008 but we import data from multiple sources including Oracle and Pervasive.

Required Skills

Minimum 4+ years post qualification development experience in SQL Server Technology with proven experience of all aspects of the development life cycle on enterprise scale systems.
Excellent knowledge of SQL Server 2005 and 2008 including query optimisation and performance tuning
Excellent knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services
Basic DBA skills such as backup, recovery, database sizing and analysis of hardware requirements
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, ability to understand complex problems and to generate appropriate technical solutions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).

Desired Skills

Proven experience in designing and developing large data warehouses, including Data modelling
Experience with Oracle 10g or later
Experience with building OLAP Cubes with SQL Server Analysis Services
Experience in designing SSRS reports against relational databases and cubes.
Experience with Pervasive 9+
Exposure to Agile Development Methodologies.
