Widerøe, Norway Agrees Delivery of the
Rainmaker Operations Intelligence Suite

Widerøe, based in Bodo, Norway, today reached agreement for delivery of the Rainmaker Operations Intelligence Suite, including electronic Voyage Reporting and Management Information. The deal will allow Rainmaker and Wideroe to work together in improving cost efficiencies and processes in a number of areas.

Widerøe is a Norwegian regional carrier, operating Europe's largest Dash 8 fleet to various destinations. The majority of the carriers operations are under contract from the government, flying subsidised services to commercially unviable destinations.

Founded by Viggo Widerøe together with four friends, and provided air taxi, ambulance, flight training, and aerial photography until after World War II, when it commenced scheduled seaplane services. A growing public demand for more frequencies and higher punctuality resulted in the Government deciding to replace the seaplane services by establishing a number of STOL-ports (Short Take Off and Landing). Widerøe was reorganised in 1970 to play a more leading role in the development of scheduled air services in the rural districts, and development into a pure scheduled airline was completed by an injection of new capital. In late November 1997, SAS, the Scandinavian flag carrier, purchased 29% of Widerøe's shares, since increased to 100%.
